Life Tips

1. Prepare for the marathon not the sprint. Have balance in the present; live in the present. Plan for the future.

2. Weigh your ego w/ your bank account. Ask for help from others. Don't have a big ego - ask for help - people want to help.

3. Prosper where you're planted. If you’re trusted w/ the small things, you'll get bigger things.

4. Marketplace pays for value. People aren't loyal to brands - they're loyal to people who care about them.
It’s the people stupid.

5. Create results. Not about $$. Ask how can I create results (again, PEOPLE, not things).

Some more thoughts mixed with Wattles'

That which we see as 'evil' is just undeveloped material, not yet organized creatively, or is that which has been organized destructively, competitively.

That gained by competition hurts both the acquirer and that taken from. That gained by creation helps both the acquirer and the entire world around him.

The ability, resource, or tool you're in need of will be there when you need it - go on in full faith.

Focus on the vision

Be grateful constantly

Do every day what can be done

Give in excess of what's been given you in every exchange. Bless everyone with whom you interact.

Success = attainment. Regardless of what's attained. Those who attain with a competitive mind succeed at bringing more competition into the world, while those who attain with a creative/abundant mind bring more creativity and abundance into the world.

Your talents are your tools. But tools don't make success, only the proper application of the tools. The user is the key, not the tools.

Use the tools/talents for which you are inclined to utilize.

Faith isn't just belief that something could be. It is power to act, KNOWING, it's impossible to fail if you but act. To have faith in Christ is a great power - for you know you cannot fail if you take the action required.

Focus on expanding what you have, not on how you can get what you don't have. Evolve, extend and perfect your functions. (ex: squirrel, flying squirrel, bat, bird, evolves to the higher plane when it perfects and then stretches beyond it's normal plane.)

You must more than fill your present place, perfect it, and then you will expand and spill over to the next phase. Life continues to advance. Surplus life lifts to and extends to the higher plane.

There is something to be said about doing first things first, and taking pro-active action. Don't merely fill the day with the normal activities - focus first on advancing your current position; take small daily, pro-active steps towards the realization of your vision. Don't focus too much attention on the not having portion of the vision, on the gap between where you are and where you wish to be. Rather, focus your attention on the present moment, and your detached, unshakeable knowledge on the intention, on the future vision.

Don’t start a dept store with a peanut stand's worth of capital. Start the peanut stand with the capital available, and grow into the dept store.

Get into a business that utilizes your highest talents.

Don’t spend time desiring more than what is available today, in the present. Enjoy life in the present and it will expand into the future, waiting for you. But if you focus on wanting/needing something in the present, even your future will be cankered and rusted with the fragments of unfulfilled desires and unmet wants when you arrive 'there'. Be grateful in the present moment fully.

BUT don't be satisfied with less than the best in the present either. Seek out the best things and get the most from each day.

Let each interaction with each customer be one of sincere want and putting life and interest and focus into each interaction. Don't merely exchange for fair value...that's settling for less than the best.

One must be in balance and fulfill all roles of your life fully to expand to the higher plain. A bad husband cannot for long be a good businessman, and visa versa. One must put life into all relationships above and beyond what he receives. Continually invest in others happiness and well-being.

KNOW what you're building all the time. See it clearly, and it will be like the house built upon the rock. Build it with uncertainty and lack of a clear vision, and you build on a foundation of sand.

Focus on the task at hand, considering that the one unit you're working on is one small department or unit of the final finished vision.

Know there is limitless abundance; you need not compete or fight for another's good fortune to acquire your own.

act upon the present environment, not the future environment.

The Science of Getting Rich

More notes from Wallace Wattles' "the Science of Getting Rich"

form a clear and definitive picture of what you want.

choose the business where you seek to build, where your passions are drawn to it 1st, where your skills are 2nd, and where you simply want to own it, never, which is more competitive in nature, never.

there is plenty of time in the creative sphere - if you feel hurried, you're in the competitive mind set.

go as fast as you can, but never hurry.

give the thought of increase to each person you come into contact with.

forgo the need for power, for dominion. this is competitive based, and seeks to take; to consume, to impress others...

rather, seek to build your fellow man.

state 'what i want for myself, i want for everyone'

pray w/out ceasing = holding the vision constantly in your mind.

do not project your will upon others - which is slavery mentally.

minimize the time you spend dwelling on doubting things...guard thoughts very carefully.

the poor don't need a loaf of bread, they need inspiration and a vision.

make the most of yourself

some more thoughts by Wallace Wattles

1. all elements come from one divine source

2. thought creates all things.

3. man is a thinking machine - therefore, a creator

life, by living, multilplies a hundrefold

God wants you to get rich, because He can live more fully through you.

Nature is friendly to your plans, and wants you to utlilize your potential.

create don't compete.

there is no limited supply.

never look at the limited supply of today - know that you will recieve from the unseen as fast as you're ready to recieve.

give from every man more than what you take from him; add life and value to others.

while your employees must recieve less than they produce as a whole for you to make a profit, build your people in non-monetary ways - that they're association with you builds them beyond material things. let their experience with you be an internship of great growth and fun, or dicispline and character developement.

"It is God that worketh in you to will" - Paul

God wants to play, work, express, and manifest himself through you.

Be it according to your faith.

gratitude connects you to the true power source.

Is there enough to go around for everyone? I think so.

According to this author, Wallace Wattles, there's enough material in nature (and in the U.S. alone) to provide every person in the world with a mansion bigger than the white house, with food, utilities, and furnishings to go with it)...

(IF this is true, this would contradict the theory/idea that if everyone if the world consumed like the U.S. that it would take 4 earths to produce and keep up with the U.S.'s current level of consumption; which was stated on the Discover channel recently.)

What Does Ken Hendricks Look for When Buying a Business?

http://www.inc.com/magazine/20061201/entrepreneur-business.html

Personally, I wouldn't consider buying a business unless I could find at least 3 things I could specifically do to it to make run better.

And from my experience, Ken is right on about sellers being liars.  As one business broker I met with recently told me: "there's just two rules to remember when buying or selling a business.  1) Sellers are liars.  2) Buyers are liars too."

I believe what he meant when he said that is that 1) Sellers try to paint the best possible picture as to why the business they're looking to sell is viable -- who wouldn't?  But a lot of times they're just not being truthful about their reasons for wanting to sell.

It's estimated, again per a business broker I met with that about 80% of businesses are needing to be sold not for financial reasons (i.e. the business or industry is falling apart) but for personal reasons (the business owner is burnt out, has a pending divorce, or a sickness, etc.).

Buyers are just as guilty.  A lot of would-be buyers are putting offers in that 1) they simply can't afford with their current resources alone, or 2) they're not really intent on buying and owning the business they're looking at (that's to say, they're spies, time wasters, or speculators, or a combination of all 3).
